DEMOLITION DERBY
RULES & REGULATIONS
- Each and every driver is required to fill out an entry
blank before the derby starts.
- Only owners, mechanics, drivers, etc. who have signed
the release sheet will be allowed in the pit area.
- No car will be allowed on the track prior to the heat in
which it is to participate.
- Intoxicating beverages, or use of such are prohibited
prior to or during the event.
- NO ALCOHOL ALLOWED
- The last two (2) cars moving, in all events will be
officially proclaimed the winners.
- You will draw your heat when your car goes through
inspection. You get two times to go through inspection. When inspection is
complete the goes to line up, no ifs and ands about it.
- If you are not a driver you are NOT allowed on the
track. If you are not a driver and you are on the track you will disqualify
the car you are with.
- All mini cars must have wheel base of 102 inches or
less.
- Drivers may maneuver forward and backward. No
deliberate hitting on drivers door.
- NO REFUNDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- No infield and track destruction, donuts, etc.
- Additional safety regulation may be imposed at the time
of the derby due to track conditions.
- Cars must have brakes before beginning of heat.
- Same car winning heat must run in feature.
DRIVER ENTRY
- Minors must have a notarized release from parents or
guardians.
- All drivers must supply their own car.
- Any driver and/or crew member disobeying rules will
cause his car to be disqualified.
- NO REFUNDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
TIME LIMITS
- One (1) minute to hit
- If a driver does not hit a car within the time limit, he
will be disqualified.
INSPECTION
- Derby officials reserve the right to inspect any and all
cars entered in the Demolition contest at any time.
CAR REGULATIONS
- Any front engine, hard top car or station wagon is
allowed. No trucks, jeeps, carry-alls, limos, 66 or older, Chrysler
Imperials, or travel all, etc.
- Judges decision is final.
- Safety belts and approved safety helmets are required
and must be worn. Shoulder harness recommended.
- All glass including headlights, tail lights, mirrors,
etc. must be removed. Car must be swept clean of all dirt and loose pieces.
ALL THIS WORK must be done before entering the fairgrounds.
- A maximum of 5 gallons of gas will be permitted. Gas
line may be changed. No original gas tank. Must have steel gas tank, no air
hose for gas line, must be steel line or gas hose.
- No special bumpers, trailer hitches, or reinforcements
will be permitted.
- Cutting fenders and bumpers for wheel clearance and/or
restrictions of steering is permissible. Suspension can be welded or bolted
solid. NO plating of frame or body. When repairing sheet metal use
sheet metal only. Sheet metal should not have more than 1” overlap onto old
sheet metal.
- All doors must be fastened shut by wire, straps or
welding. Drivers’ door may be welded solid, all other welds may be 3 inch
welds, 3 inch gap, 3 inch welds on doors, tail gates and truck lids.
- A bar or #9 wire must be ran from the firewall to the
roof in the middle of the windshield.
- You may weld coil springs or wire them in.
- Hoods may be bolted in four places but not to the
frame. Trunk lids may be chained, wired or welded. Hoods and trunks lids can
be wired to bumpers 4 times, 2 places. Sedans must have 12” hole in trunk
lids. All cars must have 12” hole in center of hood.
- Wagons must have factory leaf springs. Wagons springs
must stair step and be staggered 1 ½ inch. Nor more than 9 stock leaf springs
on wagons, 3 clamps per side, no more than 2” wide and 4” long, springs no
bigger than 2 ½” by ¼”. Springs and spring shackles must be in factory
location. Shackles can be welded. Rear decking in wagons must be removed
and wagon clean to the floor. No laid down wagons.
- Sedans must remain factory, if coil spring leave coil
spring, if leaf spring, leave leaf spring. Same spring regulations as wagons
on leaf spring sedans. If smashing of trunks on sedans trunk lids must be
no lower than 12 inches from floor plan (NO WEDGE CARS) may have two
pieces of all thread on trunk decks through sheet metal only.
- Mini cars leaf springs no more then ¼” thick and no more
than five leaves. Leaf springs must be stair step and staggered 1 ½ inch. No
spacers between leaf springs and rear end. Leaf springs must bolt to the rear
end. May have 3 clamps per side on leaf springs but must be no more 2” wide
and 4” long.
- All chrome and decorative ornaments must be removed from
outside of car. Protruding fenders and/or tail light fins must be cut or bent
over including luggage rack.
- You must stay in your car. Do not leave your car unless
you are told to do so by an official or the last car has stopped. If an
emergency arises during any event, all cars will be stopped. If any car must
be moved to allow emergency equipment to operate, then all cars must return to
their original starting position to resume heat. If it is unnecessary to move
nay car during an emergency, then the heat will “restart” from the present
positions.
- Batteries may be moved to any reasonable position in the
car, but they must be securely fastened to the car and must be covered with a
suitable shield.
- Any vehicle visibly leaking fuel will be disqualified.
- Bumpers may be welded all the way around shock.
- Car may have four point cages. Bar behind seat from
door post to door post and bar along firewall from sided to side. Bars along
doors from bar behind seat to bar on firewall. Door bar can not go past bar
behind seat and bar on firewall. Door bars cannot be inside doors at all.
Bar behind seat no more then 12” behind door post and if over top of car
must be straight. No angling of roll bar over top of car. Firewall bar must
be straight.
- The radiator must remain in its original position. No
auxiliary engine cooling system or transmission coolers are allowed.
- Car must measure 22” to the bottom of bumpers and no
lower than 18”.
- No tire regulations. No valve stem protectors.
- Body mounts may be removed, but have no plating from the
bottom of frame. Must use no more than a 3” by 3” washer to replace the
factory washer on body mounts. You can add 2 extra body mount bolts but
must be through top of frame. No added mounts to side of frame.
- THIS IS NOT AN OUTLAW DERBY SO DO NO BRING LOADED
CARS OR YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO PARTICIPATE.
- All frame seams may be welded, no added reinforcements,
plating or leading inside of frames, factory frame holes must be open from
inspection.
- May have a plate welded on outside of rear hump, plate
may be no bigger than 6 inches by 22 inches and no thicker than ¼ inch.
Plate must be straight and centered across the rear hump. Do not angle
hump plate.
- You may bolt your fender and quarter panel but only 4
bolts per panel.
- Center of Firewall where the hole for the distributor
is, you may have 2-pieces of all-thread bolting from firewall to firewall bar.
- On standard or 8 lug rear ends, you can make or modify
the upper control arms only on lower control arms you can cut and shorten but
don’t overlap no more than an inch where cut and welded together. Must use
factory control arms on lower.
- No sliding drive shafts. No distributor
protector. No gas tank protector. No reinforcing of tie rods.
